Hello, I am Rhonda Parker. Welcome to the Gifted and Talented program! I am excited for this year as we are off to a great start! It has been wonderful meeting students, getting to know them and learning their interests. We are exploring new concepts while focusing on having a growth mindset. We are discovering what a "fantastic and elastic" brain we have and how "making mistakes are proof that we are trying"! Also, we are continuing the Compassion Project through a maker-space activity challenging students to design and create specialty get well cards for patients in local hospitals. MAKING OUR MARK in the 2021-2022 school year is our goal, for sure!
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (EC-4) from The University of Texas at Tyler. Also, I attended The University of North Texas to work on a Master's Degree in Library Sciences. I have been with JISD for 12 years, 8 of those as a teacher. Prior to that, I taught pre-school and kindergarten in the private sector.
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. Troy and I have two grown children and three grandchildren. I love reading with my grands, cooking and entertaining, and traveling around Texas. "Peach" is my grand-mother name, favorite color, and ice cream flavor, too!
