Tryouts and Practices
The practice varies by coach, event, and campus, but most are at least once a week. Many of them practice more than that.
Different campuses handle the team selection process differently. Some have tryouts at the beginning and then practice with their competition team. Some use it as more of an Enrichment opportunity and all of the students who sign up practice for about 5 weeks, and then tryouts determine the competition teams. Others have signups and then tryouts to assign students to teams. The events categories have staff members as coaches.
The meet is held at Jacksonville College the first week back from Christmas break. All elementary campuses compete against each other. Students can win individual medals, and then team medals are also given for each event.
