Jacksonville ISD
Public Reporting of Progress in Meeting
Highly Qualified
Teacher Requirements
(2006-2007 and 2007-2008
Highly Qualified Teacher Data)
10-22-07
As required by No Child Left Behind, all core teachers are required to meet
Highly Qualified criteria. Public Reporting is required by November 15
of each school year.
Basically, there are 3 criteria required to meet the HQ standard:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Full Texas Certification
- Subject Area Competency
2006-2007
At the beginning of the School Year, 2006-2007, 29 teachers did not meet
Highly Qualified. The 2006-2007 data was officially submitted as of the last
day of instruction. By that date, only 9 teachers did not meet Highly Qualified
(8 of the 9 not meeting Highly Qualified were teachers in acute shortage
areas.)
2007-2008
This year, the Highly Qualified official report was required to be submitted by
10-15-07. As of that date, all core teachers in JISD except one meet Highly
Qualified criteria.
This year, we are allowed to amend our report during the year as a teacher’s
status changes. We have a plan in place, and we are hopeful that the one
situation that does not currently meet Highly Qualified will be resolved during
the year and that we will be able to amend our report to reflect 100% Highly
Qualified.
Respectfully submitted,
