Teacher with FISH! Award

Jacksonville ISD announced Monday, October 8 that Trent Nelson, a Social Studies teacher at Jacksonville High School had been named the FISH! Award Recipient for September, 2007. The committee visited Mr. Nelson in his classroom to present him with the award which includes donations from the following merchants: Dairy Queen, S. Jackson; Side Barber Shop; May Drugs; Gray Cleaners; Pams Cleaner; Movie Gallery; Sonic; Country Charm Candles; Rainbows End; Antiqued; Chilis; and SAY Plastics. Mr. Nelson was selected because he best exemplified the qualities of the FISH! Philosophy which the district has adopted as a focus for the 2007-2008 school year. The letter from a coworker nominating Mr. Nelson said that he brings to others in the teaching profession an atmosphere and energy that is invigorating and inspirational. The teacher goes on to say that I find myself wanting to emulate my style of delivery after his.
The FISH! Award is given each month to the JISD employee that best represents the spirit of the FISH! Philosophy: Be There, Play, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude. Others nominated for the September award included: Annette Ptak, Joe Wright; Stacy Hale, Transportation Department; Rhonda Parker, Central Office; Kimberly James, Jacksonville Middle School; Vernon Grote, Jacksonville Middle School; Juan Carlos Quiroz, Newcomers Academy; Lisa Herron, Jacksonville Middle School; Leslie George, Central Office; Troy Parker, Central Office. Nominations are made by anonymous entries and nominees not selected may be nominated again.
