Parent Letter regarding House Bill 657
Dear Parents,
Recently in the 85th Texas Legislature, House Bill 657 passed. The law now states any student participating in special education who is unsuccessful on the 1st administration of an SSI test, the ARD committee shall meet to determine whether to:
- Retain, or
- Promote (based on progress on academic goals in the IEP)
If the ARD committee decides to promote, the student is not required to participate in the 2nd or 3rd test administrations.
