21st Century Teaching
Award Recipient

Jacksonville ISD announces that the 21st Century Teaching Award Recipient for December 2007 is Misti Owens, a second year 3rd Grade Teacher at West Side ES. I observed a lesson in Ms. Owens classroom on patterning and it was phenomenal., commented Melissa McIntire, Assistant Principal at West Side, She brings a challenging yet supportive environment to her classroom. She understands that by using technology she will engage all students in the lesson, even those that are hesitant. Misti also serves as a Sheltered Language teacher this year. Ms. Owens attended the University of Texas at Tyler.
