September 2007 21st Century
Teaching Award Recipient
Oct. 22, 2007

Jacksonville ISD is pleased to announce the 21st Century Teaching Award recipient for September, 2007 is Melynda Cundieff of Nichols Intermediate.
Melynda has been a professional with the district for 13 years full-time and 2 years part-time. She began at East Side ES where she served as a 3rd grade teacher for 8 years. She also taught the Gifted/Talented pull-out program at East Side ES one year. Upon returning from a 4 year leave of absence she served as the part-time elementary G/T teacher for 2 years. Mrs. Cundieff then transferred to Fred Douglass ES where she taught 3rd grade for one year and 2nd grade for two years. The 2007-2008 school year is her second year serving Nichols Intermediate as the Instructional Strategist. She also serves as the Gifted/Talented teacher to 20 5th graders. Even though she is very busy in her strategist position she takes the time each week to work with the 5th grade G/T students. She has led her students to use technology as an integral part of their learning, giving them the confidence and resources they need to be successful in their use of technology.
Mrs. Cundieff was introduced and honored with a plaque at the October 19th school board meeting.
